How?

So, my mom got her identity stolen apparently, and they have taken around $1400, which we should be getting back, but it still makes me wonder how it happened. My mom assumes it was because she uses her card to buy everything, and usually on the internet. But I don't how that works, because they made a paypal account linked to her bank account, which they would need access to her bank account and the numbers on the bottom of her checks to verify it. So who know, but hopefully the criminal is caught soon.

Alice in Wonderland

I recently saw the Tim Burton version of "Alice in Wonderland," which turned out be a sort of sequel and a mix between "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass." I found it to be really boring, as there wasn't much action in it at all. Johnny Depp was the only pleasing part of the movie, but I thought he was also the one to ruin it... with the dance after they killed the Jabberwocky....

Spring Break

Once again it is time for spring break, and guess what I'm doing, same as last year, sitting at home. I don't think I have even gone to the beach in a long time. Hopefully this summer I can get out of my house, before I head off to college, and go on a little vacation. It's kind of funny though on the amount of people in Owensboro that go to Panama, I don't even see what's so great about that place.

Dune

I'm currently reading the 1960's science-fiction novel "Dune," and while I'm not to big on science-fictions, I do think it is a pretty good read so far. One draw back though is that I have already seen the movie, so I pretty much have a visual about everything in the book, and while books and movies usually differ, I pretty much know everything that is going to happen so it isn't as exciting for me as I hoped it would be. Hopefully by the end of the book I will be a bit more excited about what I have read, before I quickly move onto a new book.

A Clockwork Orange

The book "A Clockwork Orange," originally written in the 1960's, is about the future fate of the world, in around the year 2000, when young criminals have pretty much came into power, while the older people are defenseless. The book features a boy named Alex who gets caught by the police after accidentally murdering a woman after his three droogs (friends) in his little gang betray him at the scene of the crime. He is sentenced to jail for a long time, but eventually gets out after two years thanks to an experimental procedure that makes a person not able to do violence or even think about it. After he is out, he confronts all of the people he wronged in his past and is helpless to defend himself as everyone he meets shuns him or beats him. The story itself is wonderful, and I recommend everyone should at least read it once.

The Stand

One of the latest books I read from Stephen King was "The Stand". It is considered one of his greatest books, and i would have to agree completely with that statement, maybe going as far as one of the greatest books ever? It features a large cast of characters that travel across the United States to find a one they call Mother Abigail after a experimental biological weapon, also known as the super flu or Captain Trips, was released all over the world and killed around 99.4% of the population. The people have recurring dreams of the "Dark Man" Randall Flagg over the course of their journey, as they wonder who this man really is, and how evil his is. The book itself is a huge battle between good and evil in which you'll have to read the book yourself to find out all the happens.

Music

I don't see how some people can listen to most of the music today. Most of the kids at school either listen to rap filled with crude humor and sex, or some new type of rock with people screaming at the top of their lungs to the point to where you can't understand a single word they say. What happened to all of the great music throughout the 60's-90's? David Bowie, Kansas, the Beatles; music that had actual meaning.

Dracula

I'm going to have to get this out now, or I never will. Dracula was very, very dissapointing. While it was a pretty good book, it was very drawn out and boring. Not to mention the very anticlimactic ending of him just being killed in the box, without any struggle or fight. At times, the book would get very confusing with the constant switching of characters, and inbetween the switches, the times would often change to an earlier time, or a future time and then back to the original time. Now I'm off the reading "The Stand", hopefully it will be a bit more interesting.

Ways to Say No

There are several ways to say no to a person, without saying the word no. As Mrs. Matthews just said, not in a million years. I actually found a website, which I thought was kinda humorous, that lists 100 ways to say no, starting with I'd love to but... some of the better ones include: I'd love to but my patent is pending, I'd love to but I'm being deported, I'd love to but the last time I went, I never came back, I'd love to but I have to bleach my hare, and another one that I don't really understand is, I'd love to but I have to floss my cat.

College

When I got home on Monday, I was excited to see a letter I got in the mail from the University of Kentucky, telling me that I was accepted, after waiting almost two months. But the thing is, I don't even know if I am going to go to UK, and instead go to KWC. But another choice was to go to KWC for a year or two, and then transfer once everything gets settled. Either way I'm thrilled to be on my way to college next year, no matter which one I chose.

Delays

Delays are more of a hassle than getting out for a full day. True we get to sleep for an extra our, but it causes people to be late, and gets them out of their natural schedule. Some people have to find a different way to school, as their parents are already at work when they are supposed to take them, and others end up missing the bus. Even though we wont have to make up the day, I would rather not have come at all, as I am extremely tired, and I have no clue why. I guess I'll have to catch up on the sleep tonight.

Winter

Winter, possibly the worst time of year, even the 100+ degree weather is more bearable than the 20 degree weather outside right now, the feeling on your skin and the shivering horrible, even with a jacket and warm clothes. What is even worse is having to miss school, only to have to make up the days missed at the end of the year. While getting out of school is great, I'd rather get out of this place as soon as possible. What is there even to do in the winter time; you can't go outside and hangout, or even take a walk; instead we have to stay in doors and sit there hoping something good will come on TV. Well, at least global warming hasn't set in yet, then it would probably be a lot colder...

Over the weekend

This weekend I received a letter in the mail from KWC about a 16 thousand dollar scholarship to the college. Specifically it was 4 thousand each year, renewable for 4 years. Even though it will only pay for about 1 year, since each year is around 16 thousand, this coupled with any other financial aid from the FAFSA, will cut down on the cost of school tremendously. It's a pretty good feeling getting free money for trying hard and studying. Also this weekend I finally finished a seven book series by Stephen King called "The Dark Tower". Overall I thought they were the best books I have ever read, I just wish it could have kept going, and not stop after seven books. Now I'm starting to read Bram Stoker's Dracula, hopefully it's as good as people say it is, I guess I'll find out.

Ugly Words

There as so many ugly words, it's hard to think of them all. First of all, gross, that just looks ugly, not to mention ugly is an ugly word itself. Gnarled looks pretty bad, I think most words in the English language have some weird pronunciation or silent letters, especially words that sound completely different than they are spell, but hey, I didn't make the words, so I guess I cannot complain too much. Most words that are used to describe something disgusting, well, look and sound disgusting.

Bad Idea

A bad idea I once thought was a good idea was thinking I could take high school in stride and not try to get the best grades, C's would be alright, trying in school is for nerds. And now looking back on my freshman and sophomore yes, I must have been an idiot for doing that, because now I have blown most of my chances at scholarships, and I have to pay for college out of mine and my mother's pockets; it's bad enough that I decided to go to a private college too, talk about cheap...

2010

In 2010, so many things are going to be changing for me. I'll be graduating high school and moving my way to college. Also, I will be turning 18, and life will change drastically for me. I will be an adult, in a new school, working my way to my career, and I'll be doing this all on my own. It's kind of scary to think about all these things, and I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a little worried about all of this. Hopefully this time next year I will be halfway through my first year in college and things won't seem so crazy and hectic as they are now. For the next 5 months, things are going to seem rushed and I hope I am ready for this huge step in my life.

Superstitions

I myself think superstitions are just a bunch of bologna, they are a way for people to explain when times are just going bad and you aren't having very much luck, but strangely enough, I don't believe in luck either. If breaking a mirror got you sever years of bad luck, then I'm sure more than half of the world would be screwed. And also the one about a black cat crossing your path, does this mean people that have black cats all have bad luck? I don't see any decline in people buying cats just because they would be black. So to sum it up, I don't believe in superstitions at all and I never will.

2009

This past year has been a big year, the number of events that happened is almost limitless. Some of this include, the death of Micheal Jackson, among numerous other celebrities, an African American becoming president and the outbreak of swine flu. This year as included the beginning of the end of my high school career. I'm hoping that 2010 will be a great year and have as many world changing events as 2009 did, but hopefully the won't all be too terrible.
